HAAM was created on February 14, 1990 with the intention to address the needs expressed by local clergy representing sixteen congregations within northeast Harris and east Montgomery counties to centralize community outreach efforts and avoid duplication of social services. The idea was that churches and schools would no longer need to operate individual food pantries and that outreach efforts on behalf of individuals and families in crisis would be strengthened as a result of this community-wide collaboration. Over the years HAAM has expanded programs and services to meet the needs of our diverse community.
